Prostitution? Presentation?...Ridiculous ? why yes!

Ok, so it's been a while. Unfortunately school has rendered me helpless to my studies at the university, thus had really no time to blog. Good news is that I'm here now! Well then, let me share with you what I actually experienced earlier this week during my communications class. It was a Wednesday and time for presentations in class. This presentation could have been on any thing that you found of interest long as you met a whole list of rules for your speech (after all this is a communications class). I chose to do mine on one of my favorite painters of all time, The Salvador Dali. There were others who chose quite interesting topics; you know not those usual "abortion and how bad STD's are" presentations that we have all heard at least 6 times in out academic careers. To no surprise there were really terrible ones. It wasn't the topic that was boring or terrible, it was the presenter and overall lack of presentation.

One that I will share with you of course has something to do with women's issues. A young lady did her presentation on prostitution. Now it wasn't the topic as I stated before it was the presentation and message that was sent to our beloved audience, my class (oh yea and my professor who was grading). She began her presentation by asking the class if they knew of any family businesses. Almost everyone raised their hand and volunteered an answer. She replied by stating that everyone's answer was correct but that she was going to talk about a different kind of family business. "Prostitution!" Everyone was confused and did not laugh. She proceeded by explaining to us in a 10 minute presentation on how prostitution can be passed down by generation to generation and that its a billion dollar industry. She also made sure to let us know her family is in prostitution (not sure whether it was a joke or not) and then ended her presentation with a wonderful quote by some pimp named lizzy something. "prostitution isn't just about fucking, it's a business".

Next week we are assigned to do another presentation but we must persuade the audience and it must deal with the same topic....oooh I'm wondering what she will persuade us all to do?

Seriously is it just me or is this stupid and offensive?

Tell me how you feel ladies and gents!
